122 Symposium--Advanced Techniques for Assessing and Interpreting Microbial Community Function: I

Oral Session
S03 Soil Biology & Biochemistry Advanced molecular techniques exist to determine microbial communities in different environments, such as PCR, (T)RFLP, FAME, PLFA and DGGE. However, these determinative microbial techniques typically lack correlation with functional or environmental parameters, and are therefore subjective. The symposium will explore the application and interpretation of these techniques to explore the spatial, environmental and temporal influences on microbial community function.

Cosponsor(s):

Soil Chemistry, Soil Biology & Biochemistry, Soil & Water Management & Conservation, Z03 Canadian Society of Soil Science
