See more from this Session: Symposium--Advanced Techniques for Assessing and Interpreting Microbial Community Function: I
Monday, October 17, 2011: 9:10 AM
Henry Gonzalez Convention Center, Room 212A
Dr. Jeremy Friedberg, Co-founder of Spongelab Interactive will discuss the use of digital tools, game-based learning and their use in designing approaches to communicate science topics to scientists, students and the general public. The session will detail the technologies and how they are blended with educational design to not only communicate, but monitor and dynamically measure the effect of user interaction. Case studies as well as funding issues and production processes will be discussed to provide the audience a working understanding of how these approaches can be applied to their own research and teaching activities. Examples related to environmental microbiology and modeling microbial growth in certain habitats and conditions will be highlighted.
