In 2010 the Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center (WyGISC) at the University of Wyoming (UW) developed a secure online web-based GIS application to enable access to existing GIS field data collected for UW’s Sustainable Agricultural Research Extension Center (SAREC). This application aids in answering questions regarding current and historical field data as well as facilitates future field planning. A suite of tools were developed to view and/or query: irrigated and dryland field data, soil and yield data, research data and remotely sensed data. Additionally, these tools allow for viewing crop history and interactively drawing proposed study plots. This project serves as a pilot that can be used by other UW Research and Extension Centers in the future.
