The Soybean Management Verification Program (SoyMVP) was designed to maximize profitability of Kentucky soybean production by bringing University of Kentucky research and recommendations to farmers’ fields.  Field work for the program began in the 2009 growing season and continued in 2010.  Twenty fields across the grain-growing region of Kentucky were split, with the producer using their practices on one side and the university making input decisions based on intensive scouting on the other.  In 2009, university yield average 52.5 bu/A, compared to 51.8 bu/A using producer practices.  University recommendations increased average per acre returns by over sixteen dollars per acre.
