Abstract:
The SSSA K-12 education website (https://www.soils.org/lessons/) was launched in August 2006 and has had at least one major update.  The challenge is to continue to maintain working links, add resources, and develop materials to post directly.  The Website Subcommittee of the SSSA K-12 Committee is working to standardize the format of directly posted lessons and activities, correlate posted and linked materials with science standards, and add a young soil scientist’s glossary.  Work has also begun to create a list of soil scientists in different fields of study and geographic locations to respond to e-mail questions submitted to “Ask a Soil Scientist”.  Plans for the future include designing a protocol to solicit original K-12 soil science lessons and activities for peer review and posting with credit to authors.
