Abstract:
To produce the functional rice with germanium (Ge) in Korea, the growth characteristics and Germanium (Ge) absorption of rice plant were investigated under different rice cultivars such as Hopyung, Junam, Ilmee, and Dongjin in pot (1/5,000a). The soil was treated with 8 mg/kg Ge and 214 mg/L for foliar spray application, respectively. For foliar spray of Ge solution, they were at treated with 1 time (maximum tillering stage), 2 times (maximum tillering stage + booting stage), and 3 times (maximum tillering stage + booting stage + heading stage), respectively. For soil application, the Ge absorption in rice were higher in the other of rice bran > brown rice > polished rice. The Ge absorption in rice for foliar spray was similar with soil application of Ge. The rice yield was in the order of Hopyung > Ilmee > Dongjin > Junam. The rice yield in a Ge, applied soil was higher than that in foliar spray. In soil applied Ge, Ge content in rice bran, brown rice, and polished rice were 457.2, 14.5, and 8.3 mg/kg, respectively.
