Bio Huma Netics, Inc. (BHN) is an international fertilizer company in the United States that produces liquid fertilizers, soil amendments, organic pesticides and wastewater products that the company markets through distributors in the U.S. and other countries.  The company was founded in 1973, and its products contain Micro Carbon Technology™ (MCT) which is based on proprietary extraction of organic matter from leonardite, a natural material which contains humic substances with more oxygen, compared to lignite.  Current research of BHN includes 1) analytical research to better understand the chemical and physical properties of MCT and 2) efficacy testing to determine effects of products containing MCT on such variables as plant growth, yield, nutrient uptake and, in the case of two pesticides, efficacy in controlling pests such as bacteria, fungi and insects.  Analytical research is done by researchers outside BHN using techniques such as solvent extraction, molecular sieves, x-ray diffraction, gas and liquid chromatography, pyrolysis, and mass spectroscopy.  Efficacy testing done both in-house and by scientists outside BHN provides quantitative data to compare efficacy of BHN fertilizers and pest control products with products of BHN and other suppliers.  BHN research provides written materials and oral presentations in support of sales and marketing in the U.S. and other countries.   In addition, BHN research contributes to scientific publications.
