						Saline and Sodic Soils

					Oral Session
SSSA Division: Soil Mineralogy

Salt-affected soils are present throughout the world in a variety of extents, prohibiting crop growth and posing challenges to producers. While many saline and sodic soils occur in semi-arid and arid regions under irrigated management, they are increasingly being found in more humid climates where rain-fed agriculture is common. Soil salt mineralogy influences the formation of sodic soils and the detrimental effects of salts on plant growth. The purpose of this session is to explore current research in soil salinity and sodicity, and identify future areas of concern on the topic.
