A cooperative effort between government agencies, university research and extension personnel, industry personnel and producers is being used to promote the use of cover crops in Nebraska. Several research and demonstration projects have been conducted over the past few years to examine what types of cover crops work best in different cropping systems and the impact on subsequent crops. In March, 2011 a group of individuals interested in cover crops met to formulate a plan to coordinate research and extension efforts on cover crops in Nebraska and identify how to more effectively utilize government programs such as the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) and the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) to promote their use. This poster identifies past work on cover crops in Nebraska and projects that are being planned through this coordinated effort.
