121 Management Practices Impact On Soil Carbon and Nitrogen Cycling in Agricultural Ecosystems: Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Oral Session
S06 Soil & Water Management & Conservation

Information is needed on the effects of management practices on soil quality and productivity and C and N cycling. This session will focus on the impact of management practices on soil aggregation, C and N dynamics, and greenhouse gas emission. Emphasis will be given on C and N cycling in the agricultural ecosystem as a result of C and N inputs to the soil, their transformation and translocation in the soil profile, sequestration, and losses as water soluble C and N, greenhouse gas emission, wind and water erosion, and other processes. This session will strengthen our knowledge on the impact of management practices on soil quality and productivity, C and N balance, proportion of C and N inputs sequestered in the soil and lost as greenhouse gases, and N use efficiency to reduce N loss.
