Oral Session
S11 Soils & Environmental QualityThe growing population is transforming natural landscapes to urban corridors, with serious yet often overlooked problems of water contamination by a variety of pollutants including nutrients, pesticides, trace metals, hydrocarbons, and emerging contaminants. The protection of source waters to meet increasing demands of growing populations while maintaining water supplies for agriculture is a challenge. This session will cover recent issues and advances related to protection and preservation of water supplies in urban areas in an effort to synthesize our knowledge and identify research gaps on water quality issues in urban landscapes.
