Federal Excess Personal Property is a source of quality equipment that contains considerable life for use in conducting research trials.  With reduced budgets, this source of equipment is becoming more attractive for land grant universities and colleges of agriculture.  Equipment must be used in approved NIFA projects for research or extension.  Application is made through a well defined process and use of the system requires inventory management and reporting of inventory changes.  This paper will discuss how this system works and the advantages of using it.  For the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station, examples of equipment secured will be given and the process of acquiring, managing and returning equipment will be explained.
