Soil Taxonomy (ST) and World Reference Base for Soil Resources (WRB) are the leading international soil classification systems of these days. Both systems are based on diagnostic approach, but differences in priority of soil properties in classification are causing spatial consequences in global inventory.

The paper will present the classification problems of salt affected soils, and possibilities of harmonization in ST (Soil Taxonomy) and WRB (World Reference Base for Soil Resources) will be discussed.
