Abstract:
This study was conducted as part of the on going effort to optimize fertilizer use efficiency in vegetable cropping systems typical of California.  The overall goal of the research was to investigate the efficacy of manure based eco-fertilizer (EF) on cool and warm season vegetables. In phase 1 of the research we compared three application protocols for EF to that of the typical farmer’s practice (urea ammonium nitrate (UAN)), for growing broccoli under greenhouse conditions.  In Phase 2, we are conducting field studies on tomatoes grown on a sandy loam soil. Plant characteristics at various growth stages and yield will be compared.
