Abstract:
The association between Bert Tanner and Guelph, both personal and professional, have a venerable history, extending over forty years.  This talk will trace some of that history, and in particular discuss Bert's role in the development and application of the tunable diode laser trace gas analyzer.  Bert was instrumental in seeing it moved from the lab bench to world-wide application, and in the development of many unique applications, including stable isotope measurements.  His tireless support for young scientists will be highlighted through his impacts on the authors' research programs.
