Abstract:
A series of electronic devices are currently used in Arkansas to assess the variability in soil texture, with such information used for directed soil sampling (typically one sample every 2 has). It is estimated that Arkansas farmers spent more than 1 million dollars during the past season on this soil sampling approach. The objective of this paper is to compare the performance of a Veris, an EM-38, a Dual-EM and an EMP-400 Profiler unit on characterizing the variability in a field with varying soil textures.
