Abstract:

Many businesses have already been scaling back hiring and even closing some departments.  Other companies are out of business altogether.  A recently graduate or a seasoned ag professional who has been ‘let go’ may find few options when seeking employment in the corporate environment.  While it is not often the first thought of those seeking employment, starting your own business can be extremely rewarding. Opportunities do exist for single owner/operator businesses and partnerships to ‘fill-in’ niches left by the contraction of larger companies.  However, having an innovative idea doesn’t guarantee the establishment of a successful business.
