  • Abstract:
This experiment was designed to develop a crop rotation system that includes Vicia villosa, Zea mays, and Triticm spelta . The goal is to develop a crop rotation system that utilizes the Vicia villosa to improve nitrogen use efficiency, weed control and to help prevent soil loss.  Vicia villosa will be planted at the same time as Zea mays in the early spring. Two different maturities of Zea mays will be used and the Vicia villosa will be planted at three different rates.  The following year, Zea mays and Triticum spelta will interseeded with Vicia villosa in the same plots as the previous years’ research to determine carryover effects.
