Abstract:
One of the University of Wisconsin- River Falls Crops and Soils Club new focuses has been to develop the community of River Falls sustainability program. River Falls is growing in size and the local food pantry is struggling to feed citizens in need. There is a local effort with the Grow-To-Share organization to help feed the citizens of River Falls. The Grow-To-Share organization was formed in 2008 to address the issue of food sustainability in River Falls. Our Crops and Soils Club decided to get involved to give insight on how to grow the crops for the city. We were greatly involved in the whole process from planning to planting. The main purpose was to identify what foods were needed and how to grow those particular foods in the varying soil conditions. This project will be an on-going project that was first been implemented this year.
