Abstract:

Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences operates three off-campus research and extension centers, each with a particular mission relevant to the geographic region of the state in which they are located.  In addition, we manage several thousand acres of land for multiple research and educational purposes on or near campus.  Financial management of these facilities is shared between the College and participating units.  Programming follows multiple models, including our well-established Lake Erie Regional Grape Program with Cornell University, which functions by shared financial contributions across state lines under a Memorandum of Agreement.  I will describe the systems as they exist and discuss some alternative revenue generation models that we are preparing for implementation.
