Abstract:
Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) is the agricultural experiment station for The Ohio State University.  OARDC supports about 515 faculty and staff and 10 outlying research stations that complement the primary campus locations in Columbus and Wooster.  OARDC uses internal competitive grant programs (SEEDS and AgBioscience Centers of Excellence) to enhance competitiveness.  ATECH, a support unit to align research discoveries with industry, was developed to align public:private sector needs.  Battelle has performed third party evaluations of comparative strengths to focus programs was (2004 and 2009).  Signature areas include: 'Food Security, Production, and Human Health', 'Environmental Quality and Sustainability', and 'Advanced Bioenergy and Biobased Products'.  These programs are designed to make OARDC responsive to societal needs at the state and national level.
