Abstract:
Visualization technology has changed dramatically over the past few years, moving from a high end tool used only in visualization rooms by major oil companies to a desktop solution applied to a significant range of exploration and field development opportunities. Visualization has become an enabling technology to both speed seismic interpretation and integrate geologic and geophysical data much more effectively than ever before. The rapid changes in adoption are being driven by the requirement for a significant reduction in exploration risk, cost reduction and cycle time improvement. This paper will focus on thinking beyond current volume interpretation workflows to demonstrate how visualization can play a vital role in Basin Scale exploration and interpretation, including deep water environments.
