Abstract:
Effective performance as a faculty member, student, or other agronomic professional is increasingly dependent on building relational competencies. In this session we will explore the elements of building and working in effective teams, and tools you can use to manage the people in them. Participants will learn about effective leadership skills and key concepts of managing people, and how the quality and impact of their work depends on interactions with other people. We will address topics such as communication, project and budget management, coaching, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and balancing work and personal responsibilities. The session is targeted toward those early in their careers, including newer faculty, postdocs, and graduate and undergraduate students.
