Abstract:
SmartStaxÔ technology is a combined trait product that is under development through collaboration of Dow AgroSciences LLC, Indianapolis, IN and Monsanto Company, St Louis, MO.  It brings together four Bt-expressing events, including TC1507 (Herculex® I Insect Protection, expressing the Cry1F Bt protein), DAS-59122-7 (Herculex RW, expressing the Cry34Ab1 and Cry35Ab1 binary Bt protein), MON88017 (YieldGard® VT RW, expressing the Cry3Bb1 Bt protein) and MON89034 (YieldGard VT PRO, expressing the Cry1A.105 + Cry2Ab Bt proteins) in a corn hybrid.  Corn hybrids with SmartStax technology will provide the broadest spectrum of in-plant insect protection.  This presentation will provide a two-year summary of field testing for SmartStax, primarily with efficacy results on western corn rootworm and key above-ground insect pests.
