Abstract:
The Windsor Organic Research Trial evaluated three paths to organic transition: vegetable, row crop and ley or pasture. Changes in nutrient stocks, harvested matter, and nutrient budgets as well as estimates of inputs and direct measures of CO2 and N2O efflux were used to estimate global warming potential; RUSLE2 was used to estimate energy use.  Values computed with the Soil and Water quality Eligibility Tool (SWET) were used to extrapolate growth of types of organic production and their influence on services provided to the adjacent county.
