Abstract:
The substitution of synthetic dyes by natural dyes has allowed an increase in the manufacturing of natural cosmetics. However, the usage and production of these cosmetics has not been totally developed in our country, México. One natural dye that can be used in the cosmetic industry is the Carmine Lake that is a complex derived of the carminic acid, which is obtained from the cochineal insect. The Carmine Lake has been approved by worldwide health institutions, as a non-toxic product for the human being; also it has both therapeutic and anti-carcinogen properties. In the Universidad de Guanajuato, have been performed several projects about the obtaining of a natural lipstick from Carmine Lake, focused into formulation, making of the bullet, besides of the sensorial and sensitive evaluations of the finished product. Some attractive attributes of the lipstick to the consumer that were found: the cosmetic properties of moistening and steadiness of color. In this new stage it’s intended to fulfill the minimum quality specifications of a natural base lipstick, established in the area of cosmetics, to compete with other national trademarks. For this reason, it’s planning a quality process of the natural lipstick, analyzing the different attributes of these lipsticks and carrying out a plan of inspection of  raw material, process, filling, mold, compounds related such as the base and cap; all those technical attributes that are involved in the making of the natural lipstick until putting the finished product for sale to the consumer.
