Abstract:
As fertilizer prices continue to increase, there is more interest in increasing the use efficiency of applied fertilizers.  New “enhanced efficiency” fertilizers such as slow release and stabilizers/additives are currently being evaluated for their potential use in cotton production in the southeast.  The main focus of the research presented here is on nitrogen fertilizers and urease inhibitors, nitrification inhibitors or both.  Three field experiments were conducted in cotton in 2007.  Nitrogen volatilization was evaluated on select urease inhibitors using a closed chamber technique. Phosphorous and complete fertilizer additives will also be discussed.
