Abstract:
The Minorities in Agronomy Committee includes researchers, educators, extension professionals, and administrators.  We are men and women working as professionals in Agronomy in both the public and the private sector.    This poster will introduce the current members of the committee.    The Committee’s most important functions are to  promote the participation of under-represented minorities in the three societies; and encourage them to professional excellence.  The Commitee's principal activity in recent years has been to sponsor a poster contest for student members of groups that are under-represented in the Tri-Societies.  The poster contest aims to encourage students from under-represented groups to participate actively in society activities; and to raise awareness of their work and contributions to sciences in the Tri-Societies.   We strive to recruit committee members who can serve as role models for students from all groups, but particularly under-represented groups:  models for students to follow, emulate, and perhaps someday exceed.    We hope to encourage students from under-represented groups to consider making their own careers in Agronomy.
