Macro and Micro Gypsum Morphologies in Soils.

Douglas Wysocki, Ellis Benham, and Philip Schoeneberger. 4631 S 50th Street, USDA-NRCS, USDA-NRCS, National Soil Survey Center, Lincoln, NE 68516

Soil gypsum occurs in various field observable morphologies. The distinct observable morphologies informally include flour, sugar, filimentous, and massive gypsum as a matrix, concentrations or masses. We document and describe both macro and micro forms of these gypsum concentrations. Based on gypsum form and field observations, we also propose possible genesis processes.
