Whenever I think of John Norman, I visualize John with a brightly lit light bulb over his head. Always thinking, always trying to illuminate the unknown. John has followed in the footsteps of his mentor, C. B. Tanner, in being a truly innovative scientist making significant contributions in a wide range of disciplines. He has guided graduate students through their programs at
Pennsylvania State University, the University of Nebraska, and the . Many of these students have gone on to successful careers in academia, government, and industry. I will share with the audience some interesting stories of my interactions with John.
