S03 Soil Biology & Biochemistry As latitude increases, the annual soil temperature regime becomes a strong influence on natural and agricultural systems. Physical and chemical properties, water and nutrient movements, and soil ecology are all affected by freezing and thawing processes in northern landscapes.
