Experimental evidence indicates that differences among soybean genotypes for sensitivity of dinirtrogen fixation to water deficits may be influenced by differences in well-watered shoot-N concentration. In a field experiment, high-yielding soybean cultivars and plant introductions selected for extreme shoot-N concentration were evaluated at four irrigation levels for shoot biomass and N accumulation and yield.
