Nitrogen management is a major concern for farmers in Southeast Idaho. Soil amendments such as compost can reduce the amount of Nitrogen that is applied. It is needful to determine the rate of nitrogen mineralization of compost to better understand the amount of nitrogen available throughout the growing season. This study will examine the nitrogen available to alfalfa and wheat in different stages of growth. The study will consist of a bi-weekly soil sample in which ammonium and nitrate samples.
