Abstract:
The transition from an agriculture seed and chemical industry professional to an Area Extension Crops and Soils Specialist for Kansas State University has been an educational and humbling experience.  The objective of this paper is to outline some of the successes, failures, and learning’s of a second year Extension Specialist.  As a relatively young agronomist whose spent nearly a decade in school specializing in weed science, then following that up with a two year stint managing a high profile soybean project for a major seed company, it was a challenging experience to become the specialist for all things Agronomy for one fourth of a state with a great amount of diversity.  I hope to provide insight to young Agronomy professionals who are considering a career as an Area Specialist.
