Abstract:
There are myriad administrative arrangements for branch experiment stations around the US and the funding for branch stations is equally diverse. Funding sources include State Agricultural Experiment Stations, Cooperative Extension Service, sales of commodities produced on the station, land rent, internal fees, other fees for services, county governments, and others. This paper will report on the results of a survey to determine the relative importance of these and other funding sources used by branch stations. This paper will also report on the development and utilization of two Endowment Funds for branch stations, one established in the early 1990’s and one established in 2005.
