737 Environmental Soil Physics: Bridging the Critical Zone to Crops, Climate, and Remediation: I

Oral Session
S01 Soil Physics
This session emphasizes on emerging physically-based methods for managing cultivated soil as well as soil remediation technologies for urban soil. Focus is on preventing leaching of environmental impact chemicals by optimizing liners or natural soil cover systems, in-situ injection methods for clean-up at polluted soil sites, and improvement of soil physical conditions for maximizing crop productivity and minimizing environmental and climate impact from the soil critical zone. The session considers the characterization of key hydraulic and hydrological parameters at the field and landscape scale as well as the prediction of basic soils functions important for soil management, irrigation, and remediation.
