The usefulness of eggshells as a liming source was evaluated at two Iowa locations.  Equal rates (ECCE) of agricultural lime and eggshells were applied to small plots.  Yield responses and soil pH changes were measured for a four years period.  Agricultural lime increased soil pH more quickly; however, change in soil pH was less in plots treated with agricultural lime than in plots treated with ground eggshells.  Significant statistical differences were determined between the two liming materials and for the rate of lime applied.
