Potential Reuse and Management of Agricultural Drainage Water for Irrigation.

Stephen Grattan, 231 Veihmeyer, University of California-Davis, University of California-Davis, Coop. Ext. Dept. of LAWR, Davis, CA 95616

This presentation will discuss the potential for irrigating crops with agricultural drainage water that would otherwise be deemed unsuitable for irrigation. Agricultural drainage water not only contains excessive salts (EC <3 to > 20 dS/m), but often contains boron and other trace elements at concentrations that could limit the feasibility of reusing this waste water. The presentation will cover irrigation management strategies, potential crops that are suitable for reuse and short and long term impacts on soils and crops.
