Most states have developed nitrogen and/or phosphorus risk assessment tools (RATs) for nutrient management planning purposes in accordance with USEPA CAFO regulations or NRCS 590 standards. Many of these RATs are paper- or spreadsheet-based, and much of the information required to run them is entered in MMP as part of the normal nutrient management planning process. To avoid duplicate entry of common data, we have developed an assessment panel in MMP where planners enter only the additional information required to run these state-specific RATs. MMP stores all of this information in the plan file, which allows both planners and plan reviewers to verify all information needed to run these state-specific RATs. We also have developed state-specific reports that calculate RAT results automatically. These reports can be included in the nutrient management plan document. We will include several examples of how MMP implements state-specific RATs in this poster.
