Identification of Qtls Underlying Scn Resistance in Pi 494182.

Using resistant cultivars of soybean is the most efficient and environmentally friendly way of controlling soybean cyst nematode (SCN). Soybean plant introduction (PI)494182 is a new source of resistance to SCN races 3 and 5. The objectives of this study were to identify QTLs underlying SCN resistance in this new source of resistance. The mapping population consists of 160 F3:4 lines derived from the cross PI 494182 x Skylla. Skylla is a high yielding soybean cultivar and is susceptible to SCN races 3 and 5. The mapping population is currently evaluated for resistance to SCN races 3 and 5 and genotyped with over 100 polymorphic simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers
