Pot and column leaching experiments were conducted in the three textural paddy soils with cultivating the rice (Oriza sativa L.) to monitor the nitrogen dynamics as affected by the applications of chemical fertilizer (CF) and the manure fermented liquid fertilizer (MFLF). Rates of the MFLF application were 100, 70 and 50% of the recommended chemical fertilizer based on N contents. The NH4-N concentrations in topsoil were in the orders of clay loam (24.25 mg/kg)>loam (22.66 mg/kg)>sandy loam (16.49 mg/kg). The same tendency was noted in the subsoil. The NO3-N concentrations in topsoil were in the orders of CL>L>SL, but those in the subsoil were reversed. The leaching of NH4-N or NO3-N was highest in the CF treatment. Rice yields were highest at the CF 100% in SL and at the MFLF 50% + CF 50% in L and CL. Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of rice was highest in CL, followed by L and SL The overall results showed that an application of MFLF 50% + CF 50% was recommended for L and CL soils based on the highest rice yield and the lowest N leaching. The MFLF application was not recommendable in the sandy soil because it caused a significant leaching of NO3-N.
