Bryan Fowler, North Carolina State University, 2633 Old Wilmington Rd, Whiteville, NC 28472
In order to ensure the future of agriculture in North Carolina we decided to go back to elementary school. We visited several different elementary schools in the Raleigh area to raise awareness about agriculture, and to teach the kids a little bit about crop and soil science. We brought in examples of all kinds of field crops they might see in a drive through our state. The school visits were a very good learning experience for the kids as well as the college students and professors that participated. I could tell the elementary students really enjoyed it from the different expressions on their faces and their amazement about the different types of plants. This is something that our club will continue to do for a long time to come.
