Organic wastes such as animal and poultry manures are frequently applied to croplands to increase soil fertility and improve soil properties. We transported different animal manures through laboratory soil columns packed with sand and silt loam soils. All experiments were conducted under saturated flow conditions. These experiments showed that significant amounts of manure associated DOC and POM were transported through the soil columns. These preliminary results provide useful information on transport mechanisms of DOC and POM through the soil profile. Depending upon the manure type and soil type, there is a large potential for DIC and DOC transport and storage in the soil profile.
