The tools are distributed as a CD. Nebraska's CNMP CD contains folders for instructions, workbooks, spreadsheets, and documentation for use by operators of livestock feeding facilities to develop and implement nutrient management plans, and to keep records as required for land application of manure. The core tools are four spreadsheets that (#1) determine if the farm is a net importer or exporter of N and P,(#2) calculate the total manure N and P produced on the farm, (#3) allocate manure to fields based on soil nutrient level, manure content and crop selection. This tool also 'carries forward' to future years estimates of organic N mineralization. The fourth spreadsheet (#4) calculates the value of manure in dollars over several years. Another spreadsheet is for calculation of the N recommendation for corn. Regulations are documented. The CD contains education materials for self-instruction and for teaching. Links to websites that contain additional information are listed as well as alternative software. Workbooks contain forms to facilitate calculations as an alternative to use of the spreadsheet tools. The CD also contains pdf and Word files of relevant Extension material, NRCS documents, and state regulations. The CD is distributed at Extension meetings and by mail. All of the tools and information are also available for download from a website (cnmp.unl.edu).
