Molecular Mapping of Seed Tocopherols in Soybean.

Heinrich Wohleser, Yukio Kakuda, and Istvan Rajcan. University of Guelph, 50 Stone Road, Guelph, ON N1G2W1, Canada

Soybeans (Glycine max L. Merr.) are the main source for commercial tocopherol extraction in North America, but little is known about genetic factors controlling the trait. In this study two soybean cultivars (OAC Bayfield and OAC Shire) were crossed to develop a RIL population for mapping the trait. A molecular linkage map was constructed from 120 SSR markers segregating in 81 families of a F5:8 RILs. Phenotypic data was collected from 3 locations with two replications each in 2004.
