Nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, and ammonia emissions were quantified from California Dairy systems from sources such as animal housing, manure storage, lagoons, and land application of liquid and solid manure.  A total of six different dairy facilities were evaluated during, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall months.  Emissions were quantified using the USEPA Emission Isolation Flux Chamber.  Gas concentrations were obtained by an Innova 1412 Photoacoustic Field Gas-Monitor.  Results will be used  calibrate a computer simulation model of carbon and nitrogen bio-geochemistry in agro-ecosystems (DNDC) to provide a better understanding of carbon and nitrogen dynamics in these systems.
